"Narnian Nightmare" (C)2023, Miachelle Breese
It took a minute, but Maynard and I finally figured out how to combine our works. The past five years of our lives together have been jampacked with life events: family deaths, raising twin teens as a blended family, work, running three businesses (Maynard has two), getting married in 2022, and adjusting to the cycles of Maynard's fine art and photography printing business.
At the end 2022, if you go back through the blog posts, I'd shut down my photography business in anticipation of yet one more life event, and to be really honest, I had burnout. Ten years of running a photography business and carrying out a full-time corporate job took their toll on me.
This year, there were still life things to handle. Our next major future life event change is still in the future (I know that's mysterious, but we aren't ready to announce anything yet) is dependent on other life events in the future. What I am figuring out at the age of 54 is how to not burn my candle at both ends, but still successfully achieve the daily grind. 2023 became my year of falling in love with photography again, and shooting what I want.
Meanwhile, Maynard is still plugging away. Steady as he goes.
In the past 12 months, multiple show opportunities presented themselves. Maynard would ask me to join him in his booth, but because I'd shut down my business, I couldn't. This led to other conversations relating to being married, especially at our ages now, and how do we find ways to work together as artists.
Maynard added me to his art business, and here we are. I took this site and revamped it completely, building a shopping cart function, and accumulating files of all his work.
And we are live, and it's exciting. It's a way we can combine our efforts, and yet still be who we are as individuals. I hope you enjoy what we do, and I hope you like what we do enough that you want to see that work hanging in your home or work or creative studio.
